Steve and Barry's
One of my fellow bloggers came across this store in Murray, UT and LOVE it! They have really nice clothes, one line is by Sarah Jessica Parker, and they are so cheap! When she went about a month or so ago, everything in the store is $8.98 or less. She got dress pants, blazers, button up shirts, some men's t-shirts, 3 dresses, and a few other things, for $100. Looks like the closest one to Fort Collins is in Longmont, for my Colorado peeps. Check 'er out!

For all those preggers and mom's out there, this is just a note to you that The Children's Place is having one of their $7.99 monster sales right now. I just got 4 things for Jack for under $20. My sisters always stock up on clothes for the next season when they have these sales, which is such a good idea. Hooray for good deals!

Heard of any Deals?
I haven't posted lately because I haven't heard of any smoking deals out there lately. The latest I saw was when I was at IKEA yesterday. I saw some planters at Harmon's for about $24.99/piece. IKEA is selling the same size planters (granted, they're only the clay ones, but whatever) for only $6.99! I got one of those, and then two of the hanging kind for $9.99 each. NICE!

Baby Food
I found baby food at Wal-Mart (ORGANIC baby food, nonetheless) the other week for $0.40 per can! The Gerber 2-packs at Wal-Mart were like $0.93, so I thought this was a pretty good deal.

Also, if you're REALLY interested in going green, the new Harmon's grocery store off of Bangerter Highway is the "greenest" place I've ever seen! They have reusable shopping bags you can purchase, and have a surprising amount of organic items on just about every aisle. Of course, most of the organic foods are more expensive, but they're better for the environment. Go Harmon's!

First Budget Entry
I've heard of, and thought of, a few things you can do at home when you're on a budget (I know, some of them seem obvious, and some are a stretch.) Here are a few of those:
Water Heating
1. Wash all clothes in cold water, except your whites. Wash your whites in warm water.
2. Turn your water heater down as far as you can manage.
3. Take shorter showers, including turning the water off or down when you shave.
Energy
1. Make sure you have a full load of laundry to wash before doing laundry.
2. Turn off your lights when you leave the room.
3. Keep your thermostat below 70 degrees in the winter (I kept mine at 68), and above 72 in the summer.
4. Turn your thermostat down at night (I can't turn mine down too much because I have a baby in the house.)
5. Hand wash all your dishes, and use the dishwasher as a drying rack.
6. Don't run your dishwasher unless it's full.
Money-Saving
1. Plan your meals before you go to the grocery store so you're not buying everything that looks good when you go.
2. Forget Blockbuster or Hollywood Video (or Comcast rentals if you have Comcast!) Rent your movies from Red Box, and return them the next day. I read on someone's blog that if you sign up for their text messages, they will send you two free coupons a month (or something like that) for renting FREE videos from there.
3. Buy steaks at the grocery store and eat them at home, instead of going out to eat.
4. Ditch your house phone if you both have a cell phone.
5. Lower your cell phone minutes if you aren't using them all each month.
6. Call your high-interest rate credit cards and see if you can get the APR lowered.
I'll add more to this list as I learn them.

So, I thought it might be a fun blog to have where I can report all the deals and tricks I have heard of to help save money. Since we're always looking for ways to cut corners, find good deals, go green, etc., this is now my official place where I'll record everything I hear about.
